Little Sheffield’s Wildlife Trail
Monday, 10 July, 2017 - Saturday, 9 September, 2017
We are SO excited to be launching a Wildlife Trail across THREE of Sheffield’s parks this summer!
The trail will be open from Monday 10th July through to Saturday 9th September and will be at:
- Norfolk Park (this trail has been removed, see below update for more information)
- Weston Park
- Hillsborough Park (please see below update)
Pop along any time and have fun finding all the signs we have hidden! On each sign you will find a picture of some local wildlife, record your findings in our trail booklet and enjoy finding out all about the local wildlife we have in our wonderful city.
The trail has been designed to be a FREE activity that families can enjoy in their own time and at their own pace.
The Wildlife Trail is an accredited activity with the Sheffield Children’s University – make sure you send off the last page of your trail booklet to collect 3 CU points!
The signs are all around 1 metre high so that children can see them easily, but please be careful with them, they are not designed for climbing on!
Trail booklets can be picked up from council run libraries (from July 10th) or you can print the Wildlife Trail booklet here
PLEASE TELL US YOU HAVE TAKEN PART!!!
We NEED this information to be able to run future trails and events!
The Wildlife Trail has been funded by the Sheffield Town Trust, we are incredibly grateful for their support.
To report any issues with any of the signs please email firstname.lastname@example.org and one of volunteers will respond as soon as possible.
Norfolk Park: We are very sad to say that we have removed the trail from Norfolk Park as half of the signs have been damaged and/or stolen. We have relocated the remaining signs to Weston Park so that they can still be enjoyed. Please note that the Ant and Emporer Moth signs are missing, if anyone spots them please let us know. Sadly the Squirrel was damaged and had been left but is now missing. The Sycamore Tree sign is on it’s way to us and we hope to have it back out soon.
Hillsborough Park: We have also had multiple issues at Hillsborough Park with damage, we have already repaired/relocated signs on three occassions but sadly we have not been able to replace them all. The Horse Chestnut sign has been damaged and we have only been able to find half of it and the Woodlouse sign is missing in action! If you spot either of these please let us know!
We do everything we can to make sure all details on our website are accurate. However, we are human, mistakes can be made and details can change, events may even be cancelled. So, please check with the event organiser before you go.
