We are always looking to find ways to make Sheffield more family friendly, so we organise events of our own that are specifically tailored to families including our annual Little Sheffield Show in the city centre and our Community Cinema film screenings.
Want to make your event more family friendly? Get in touch!
We have lots of equipment available to hire and we’d love to help firstname.lastname@example.org
We’re also very keen to help families find the right information they need and to help them find free or low cost activities that everyone can enjoy – we’re always applying for funding for different projects to achieve this. Currently we’re working on a Summer Wildlife Trail, Playgroup Video Project and our Winter Play Project.

Summer Wildlife Trail
***Brand New For 2017!!!***
Thanks to funding from the Sheffield Town Trust, we are launching a wildlife trail across 3 of Sheffield’s parks this summer!!
The aim is to provide a free activity that will encourage families to enjoy, discover, and learn about wildife and the outdoors together.
We’re super excited to be working with some amazing local organisations including Sheffield’s Parks & Countryside Team, the Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust, Sheffield Children’s University, Robin & Rainbow (the local artist who will be making the wildlife signs) and Move More Sheffield.
We had always planned to run some additional learning activities alongside the trail, but we are completely reliant on donations to be able to do this, if you can spare a penny or two please donate online here.
WATCH THIS SPACE – MORE INFO COMING SOON!!
Our last film screening before we break for summer is SING!
Sunday 28th May, doors open 2pm, film starts 2:30pm
Our screenings are super relaxed, we welcome all ages, from babes in arms and wriggly crawlers, to all you big kids out there that love a good animated film! We have soft mats at the front for the children to sit together, a colouring table, refreshments and we play some of the best songs from movies at the end so everyone can have a boogie!
We keep our ticket prices to an absolute minimum – every single penny goes towards our room hire, insurance and film licensing costs – nothing more!
We’ve had an awesome time launching the community cinema and we’re so very grateful for the support we’ve received from the Sheffield Town Trust, The Moor and from public donations ❤️
Since we started we’ve screened Sing, Minions, Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs, Arthur Christmas and James And The Giant Peach.
The cinema is available for private hire, if you’d like us to run a film screening for you please email email@example.com
Showcasing local playgroups!
The idea behind this project is to use video media to increase people’s awareness and confidence around attending local groups.
The videos will communicate all the ins and outs of how the playgroup runs and who it is suitable for.
This project has only been possible thanks to the Big Lottery Fund
The videos have been filmed by local film production company Humbledinger. We would like to extend a special thank you to them as they have been absolutely amazing and have worked incredibly hard on this project for us.
Giant Sensory Boards
The idea was to provide something completely new to Sheffield that would encourage children to discover and learn through play.
They have been painstakingly put together by hand over nearly 12 months! Everything from design, to varnishing the boards, through to drilling and attaching all the items has been carefully done by our volunteers, most of the work was done with children in tow who also ‘helped’!
The boards can be taken apart and transported, we hope to take them to different venues across the city for children to enjoy – we are completely reliant on donations to do this.
The boards were part funded by the JG Graves Charitable Trust, the rest of the money was put forward by Little Sheffield, mainly money we raised through advertising.
The boards are available to hire, please note that we have to hire a van to move the boards as well as cover a member of staff to supervise the boards. For more information please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Winter Play Project
This project is all about helping families to get out of the house in the cold, dark, winter months. We set up FREE play sessions that families are welcome to drop in to.
So far we have run sessions with Mobilo, Wooden Train Sets and Wooden Marble Runs. The sessions are always focused on one activity to encourage inter-age play, communication and learning.
In 2017, our volunteers ran 16 sessions with a footfall of over 800 people.
Our volunteers run these sessions whatever the weather and with their children in tow. It’s a huge commitment for them and we couldn’t do it without them.
2017’s sessions were funded by the South Yorkshire Community Foundation. This amazing funding allowed us to purchase some new equipment and to cover our volunteers expenses.
Would you like us to run a play session for you? Email us for more information at email@example.com
Little Sheffield Show
Our 2017 show was on Sunday 14th May – it was our busiest show to date with a footfall of approximately 2,000 in the Millennium Galleries and even more outside!
